Homemade cranberry sauce

Cranberry Sauce is a staple in holiday cooking - Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners just don't seem the same without it. But you don't have to drop a column of it from a can...make it fresh! The recipe is easy and simply and takes about 20 minutes.

YOU'LL NEED:

1 bag of fresh cranberries - 12 oz

3/4 cup of orange juice

The juice from 1 lemon

1 cup of sugar

A pinch of gelatin

A dash of salt and pepper

DIRECTIONS

Heat the orange and lemon juices in a sauce pan. Add the sugar and stir over medium until dissolved. Add the berries, whole, and continue to stir occationally - about 10 - 15 minutes. We like the berries to still have some texture and not be too mushy, so you can add or subtract time in this stage depending on texture you'd prefer.

For us we stop once about half of the berries have popped. At this point remove from the heat, let cool for about 5 minutes. Stir in the gelatin and salt and pepper, allow to cool for another 5 minutes then cover and put in the fridge until ready to serve!
